Re: shorebirds digging in clammer's sand piles, while I was birding Foulweather
Bluff yesterday I watched a red fox clamming. Or maybe it was just "bivalving."
Anyway, he was out on the wet sand, wandering around until he saw "sign," then
he would dig like crazy and come up with something that ~looked~ like a clam.
He'd then crunch it and leave behind remains. Since I was a long way away,
watching with a scope, I couldn't examine the offal. His legs were filthy all
the way to his chest.

This is new for me -- is it common?

Jerry
