Subject: A few birds at Government House

On our way down to the Garry Oak Woodlands on the grounds of Government
House in Victoria to pull ivy and daphne we saw at least 10 Violet-Green
Swallows
swooping above the rock face. While watching them, we spotted two Ruphous
sided towhees perched in the bushs. The pair of Great Blue Herons are back and
we watched them bringing in nesting material last week. Also saw an old
bushtit nest today made of mosses. I'd never seen one of these before.

We don't get as many birds on this part of the grounds as we think should be
here. Perhaps there is a lack of water?
