Tweets, can we help this fellow?

Hi all,

Apologies to anybody who has read this before on other listservers...

About two years ago I was at Zeekoeivlei in Cape Town, South Africa,
and I observed a Pelican eating a yellow-billed duck. The pelican
swam casually in the duck's direction, then suddenly lunged out
and caught the duck. The duck managed to get away, but the
pelican chased after it, and caught it again. This time the pelican
got the duck, and with wings flapping out the sides of its bill, proceded
to juggle the duck into a more comfortable position, and then swallow
it - the duck's progress being marked by a twisted bulge moving down
the pelican's neck.

Has anybody heard of similar reports, or can you put me in touch
with someone who has heard of similar incidents. The basis for
this request is the submission of a note into birding magazines in SA.

Apparently this topic was raised a short while ago, but I only recently
got connected to the internet, and missed it. If there are any
archives people could point me to, I will be most appreciative.

Many thanks for your time,

Andrew
