Yesterday was my first trip ever to Bowerman Basin. What a great spot you
all have up here! I was there from about 11:30 to 1:00 and saw thousands
of birds. Incredible. My favorites were the Red Knots. Gorgeous, and much
more plentiful than I would have guessed! There was a Snow Goose with the
Canadas and White-fronted Geese, a singing Yellow Warbler in the bushes and
the weather was pretty darn good. And trying not to sound too
misanthropic, there were only a maximum of six of us out there when I was
there.

On the way out there, I stopped at Scheueber Road, off Highway 6 about two
miles west of Chehalis. Opposite the Lewis Adventist School was a male
TUFTED DUCK, in with Ring-necked Duck and Lesser Scaup. Both Yellowlegs
were around, as were about 50 Black-bellied Plover and dowitchers way out
there.

Cheers,
Tim
