Sherrie,

When we went to the Audubon Spring Council Meeting in Pullman/Moscow last
weekend, we saw at least 18 Northern Harriers between Yakima and Pullman and
a few more on the way to Moscow. Also saw Red-tailed Hawks and some
Ferruginous Hawks (actually saw a pair of them over the Rose Creek Preserve)
as well as American Kestrels and we think we saw a Cooper's Hawk but it
could've been a Sharp-shinned. Great country for raptors! Also saw about 9
species of waterfowl in the Albion water treatment plant (let's see if I can
remember---Pin-tails, Coots, Canada Geese, Common Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks,
Mallards, Common Goldeneye, Redhead, and American Wigeon)---it's a great
place to see fowl! We hiked around and up Kamiak Butte, too, and some people
who went to the top saw a Great Horned Owl and a Mountain Bluebird as well as
some other stuff (I wasn't on that part) and we, who walked around at the
bottom of the butte, saw/heard Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Black-capped
Chickadee, and a few others (the wildflowers were very pretty, too).
