If YOU are ever fishing and have an osprey, or especially a pelican, on on
the line, make sure to reel it all the way in and remove the hook from the
fish, or from the bird if the bird has been hooked. Back when Brown
Pelicans were officially endangered, I remember reading that a measurable
source of mortality came from pelicans being caught, and then cut loose
with hook in mouth and scores of feet of fishing line trailing. The
pelicans often died from infection or entanglement.

Sorry for such a grim reminder, but just in case...
