The male Hooded Oriole that appeared at a feeder in North Saanich (Victoria
area) on May 6, was present all day May 7, but has not been relocated to
11 AM today, May 8.

Many birders got to see it yesterday. There is no question about it's
identity as a Hooded Oriole, possibly a first year bird. And, so far, there
does not appear to be any question about its wild origin -- no visible
features indicating previous captivity. However, I realize the difficulty
in judging that factor.

It would be a first for BC (and for Canada, I believe?) if it is eventually
accepted by the Victoria and BC Records committees.

More later if it reappears.
