Hi Arnie and Judy!

Read your robin message. Actually the father robin takes care of any young
who have left the nest, the mother remains with the nestlings. There are
several birds that do the same thing. Scrub Jays and towhees also have
their fledglings leave the nest and are cared for on the ground until they
can fly.

Interestingly, we get several in for rehab at this point because people
think they are abandoned. Other folks (like my mom) try to put them back
into the nest. The just leave again. I finally convinced her this was
normal and her towhees disappeared happily into the bushes!
