Here in Oregon, we're in the second year of our statewide breeding
bird atlas project. We've gridded the state into 430 units, each about the
size of a Christmas Bird Count circle (about 15 miles across), and are
asking volunteers to do a species list for each area during the summertime.
Unlike the Washington state BBA, you need not focus on a particular
"square" -- we welcome observations from anywhere in Oregon as long as
you describe the location within about 1 mile.

We gladly invite Washington birders to send us lists, by
locality, of whatever they find when they visit Oregon this summer. Many
of you are already helping. We especially need
coverage in eastern Oregon's high desert areas (except at Malheur
NWR). This includes some very beautiful, desolate terrain, much of it on
public land. If you're interested in doing a camping-birding vacation in
eastern Oregon this year, please email a request for a free atlas project
packet. And if you visit ANY part of Oregon this summer, just mail us
your species lists with the locality described to within a mile or so.
