Hi Tweets!

Karen & I went to Wenas campground this weekend and finally saw a
White-headed Woodpecker. We saw a male (what a beauty). Anyway, things
were pretty quiet in the campground (we didn't see nearly as much as we've
seen in the past). But we did see a WHWP, a Red-naped Sapsucker and a
female Downy WP. Also saw a White-breasted Nuthatch, Red Crossbills, Purple
Finch, chickadees, W. Bluebird and a Wilson's Warbler.

Birding on Umtanum Road was great! We saw a male Lazuli Bunting along with
a male Bullock's Oriole, Wilson's & YR Warblers, 3 male Western Tanagers and
more at a pullout on the paved portion just north of a very busy (and new?)
haul road. At a spot past the Wenas Creek parking area (where the creek
comes close to the road and there are trees on both sides) we saw several
warblers including Yellow, Nashville, Black-throated Gray, Townsends and
both Yellow-rumps. We saw 8 warbler and 5 woodpecker species yesterday (but
failed to find the porcupine), and had a wonderful day.

And I close with a warning for those of you planning on attending the
campout this year. Three of the toilets in the campground have been
destroyed. That leaves only two. Just thought I'd let people know so
they'll be "prepared".

Take care,
Laurinda Anglin
