Starting another crow thread?

I have a less interesting observation than Burt's, but still an
interesting one: a pair of starlings (see, not so interesting...) are
nesting in the street light in front of my house (which is a near
continuous activity).

A crow has tried to get the nestlings by standing on top of the street
light casing, but can't stretch down and in to get at them; however, it
has succeeded in getting one or the other of the parents to drop their load
of goodies, so they can squeal at the crow in that endearing starling way.

Now the crow comes back several times a day when a parent starling has come
back to the nest with a beakful of worms and larvae (found a crane-fly
larvae on top of my car), and gobbles these up when the parents drop them.

How's that for opportunism?
