Subject: avian bioloist position available

AVIAN BIOLOGIST POSITION Available May 25-July 15.
University of Washington College of Forest Resources & Washington State
Department of Wildlife

Avian biologist sought to conduct early morning point count surveys in oak
forest/oak scrub habitat, and locate nests and record behavioral data on
ash-throated flycatchers in and around Klickitat County Washington. Must
be adept at identifying Northwest birds by sight and SOUND. Salary: $1320
per month with housing and transportation provided. Qualified individuals
should contact Jennifer Seavey at (509) 493-4395.

Readers note:

I apologize for using Tweeters for a want ad. However, a veteran member
of our field team must depart suddenly for Alaska, and I know of no better
forum to solicit experienced ornithologists with expert regional avian
identification skills.

This job is IDEAL for the seasoned "bird nerd". Early mornings are spent
surveying forest birds in habitats with varying degrees of oak
composition, while early afternoons are spent locating ash-throated
flycatcher nests amidst such outstanding regional specialties as Lewis'
woodpeckers, acorn woodpeckers, white-headed woodpeckers, golden eagles,
prairie falcons, canyon wrens, and spotted owls as well as ash-throateds.

If you are skilled at Northwest bird identification (predominately by
sound) and experienced in avian field ecology please contact me by phone
at (509) 493-4395 or e-mail (see below) to arrange an interview and the
transmission of a resume/references as soon as possible.
