John Flavin reports the Everett Arctic Terns have FINALLY returned.
Two pairs were seen today (5/27) on the Navy base, northwest corner
near a wooden construction shack. The base is not guarded at this
time and one can just drive in. Look for orange cones and plastic
fencing which John got the Navy to put up today. They was no sign of
the third pair who have been nesting one pier north near the yacht
club. The Arctics usually come back at the end of April or first
week of May. Why so late? Have they been listening to out weather
reports?

The Caspian colony in that area is essentially kaput. From over
2,000 birds two years ago, John has recorded a maximum of only 20 at
one time this year.
