After three days the male house sparrow was unable to find a mate and left.
We now have a pair of tree swallows in the house and all is going well.
They were dive bombing a scrub jay who was sitting on the peak of the roof
this morning.

By the way, although the Wild Bird Center said a 1 1/4" hole would solve my
sparrow problems, the swallows were unable to get through that sized hole
either. So we had to do an emergency preditor guard switch while they were
still interested.

Our truck was in the shop so we didn't make Malheur but here are a few
sightings from Fern Ridge on Saturday:

Yellow-headed blackbird
Cedar waxwing
Black-headed grosbeak (pair)
Evening grosbeaks (too many!)
Adult bald eagle
Mourning dove (one)

Sunday was gloomy and the only different birds that showed up were:

Red-breasted nuthatch (the first I've seen in this area)
Red-breasted sapsucker
Pileated woodpecker

Happy Birding!
