A friend passed this on to me, thought some Tweeters would appreciate it.

I was driving down Wiggins Road (the last road before you get to the dirt
road that goes to my house) behind a blue van that had been going a little
below the speed limit in order to look at the strange animals in the field
at the bend in the road. (there are wooly cows, things that look like
gazelles and funny deer with stripes on their backs!) Well this van was
way past the menagerie and it was slowing down to a stand still. When it
turned left, I saw the grand spectacle that had caused the snail's pace.

Strutting very nonchalantly down the center of my lane, as if it had every
right to be there, was a blue peacock with his tail feathers fanned out
quite self importantly. I tapped my car horn lightly to try to encourage
him to get off the road. He turned his head slightly to look at me over
his shoulder and then he fluffed his feathers a little fuller and
continued strutting down the road. I assume he either lives with all the
other strange animals on that road or perhaps had only been visiting them
for the day. He definitely acted like he owned the whole neighborhood!

I simply drove around him and hoped that he got to his destination before
the sun went down so that no one would accidentally run over him.
