Sunday, November 3rd bird-monitoring walk-about...............

Since my last report in middle October, both common and Barrow's
goldeneyes are now present in small numbers; the Barrow's arrived, as in
earlier winters, several days before the commons. Two or three
coots are here; more may show up later in fall, and a few white-winged
scoters were seen just north of the fishing pier near the much larger raft
of surf scoters. White-winged scoters have been less prevalent, and more
transient in this area during the last three winters compared with the
surfs. Hundreds of American wigeon can be seen in early morning; no
Europeons evident, yet.
