4:52pm Nov 5 - This is Hal Opperman in Medina at 625-0503. I received a
message about a SNOWY OWL that spent Sunday afternoon, November 3rd, on
the roof of a garage on Beacon Hill in Seattle. It was first observed
around noon and not seen again after nightfall. The garage is located
behind a house at 4618 13th Ave South near the corner of South Alaska and
the Veteran's Hospital. Photos were taken. It might be worth checking to
see if the owl is still somewhere in the neighborhood. Thanks.

5:02pm - Yes, this is Dale Wesley at 206.525.9929. Today Tuesday the 5th
we found a brown-phased GYRFALCON just north of the little town of Edison
on the Samish Flat. It would be in your DeLorme map page 109, D5. The
little road that heads directly north on the east end of Edison, curvess
up for a couple of blocks and comes to a gate which says 'no trespassing',
but it's usually open. The bird was on the crossbars up about a hundred
yards from that gate. Also there was a SCRUB JAY in Bayview just south of
the boatworks on Padilla Bay. It was behind the house at 1311
Bayview-Edison Road. The homeowner seems to be very cooperative and
welcomes people to take a look at the SCRUB JAY.

6:38pm Nov 5 - Hi, this is Jim Flynn at 206.772.5568. There was a SNOWY
OWL at the Kent ponds area today, November 5th. The bird was there at
about 5 o'clock and was watched for about 10 minutes. It was just west of
the pond. The fields are most easily reached from Russell Road. That's it,
thanks alot, byebye.

6:54pm Nov 5 - Hi, Steve Mlodinow. At Edmunds today the SNOWY OWL could
not be found by Dave Beaudette, myself and some others. There were a
couple small groups of ANCIENT MURRELETS that went past. Also dave had
two OLDSQUAW fly past there. I looked for the SCRUB JAY and the GYRFALCON
mentioned in the next message but could not find either. I did have 7
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE just east of Bayview Edison road about a mile and a
half south of the T with Samish island road. There is also in that
vicinity a bird that is a hybrid or intergrade HARLAN'S/REDTAIL HAWK. The
bird appears much like a dark phase HARLAN'S but has some red at the very
base of the tail the rest of the tail is typical HARLAN'S. Also the bird
has a little bit more speckling on the scapulars than you would expect
from a pure dark-pahsed HARLN'S HAWK. That's it, good luck and good

6:39am Nov 6 - Rick Nelson. On Monday, November 4th I saw a ROCK SANDPIPER
on the jetty between Indian Island and Oakbay Park with a group of rocky
shorebirds, mainly BLACK TURNSTONES and some SURFBIRDS. It was on the far
jetty which is partially underwater, that's not complete, and it was
easier to see from the Indian Island side. Also there are a quite a few
ANCIENT MURRELETS in the Point No Point area. Indian Island is in
Jefferson County, north of Port Ludlow and south of Port Townsend.

11:18am Nov 6 - Hi this is Roland Watson, top of the Bridmar hill just
northwest of Renton. We've just found the body of a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL,
apparently it hit the wires and knocked its head off. It's very
definitely a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL, this is the second sighting here on top
of this hill. Also a pair of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES are feeding at our
feedbox this morning, just having a great time.

6:04pm Nov 6 - Hello, this is Patrick Sullivan reporting from Tacoma,
Washington, 206.564.7419. At Dungeness National Waterfront Refuge in
Clallum County there were 9 SNOWY OWLS and 2 SNOW BUNTINGS. In Jefferson
County at the town of Nordland just south of Mystery Bay State Park there
was one male PINE GROSBEAK in a mountain ash tree feeding with ROBINS.
