Dear Sirs,

The Kapawi Reserve seems to be one of the places in South America
with the highest diversity of bird. The reasons are clear. Isolated from
populated centers, has no threats at the moment. No logging or oil
exploitation is present in the area.

Different types of forests (Terra firm, versa, igapos, Mauritia swamps,
river islands, white and black waters lakes etc.) provide different niches
to many different species. Besides it Kapawi embodies species from
Ecuador, Peru, and the Amazon Basin as well as migrants.

Kapawi seems to be an area of high endemism as part of the Napo Refuge.
For instance, recently two species from the generous Herpsilochmus and
Arremonops have been discovered in Kapawi and it seems to be they can be
new registers for science.

But even if you don't discover new species, it is likely to find rare
egisters like the Rofous Potoo, the Black Bushbird, the Rio Suno
Antwren an the harpy Eagle.

More them 20 different species of parrots and five species of macaws,
the Wood Stork, the Orinoco Goose and the Ornate Hawk-Eagle are some
of the 490 species that have been registered in Kapawi in the past months,
Researchers predict that the list will count with more than 600 species.

Being isolated from the rest of the world doesn't mean a lack of confort,
at least not in Kapawi. We offer 20 double rooms every one with its
private bathroom, showers heated by the sun, and electricity provided by
solar panel. Located at the shore of the Kapawi lake every room has a wide
terrace from where you can observe the daily visitors; ducks, hummingbirds,
egrets, parrots or listen the music produced by myriad of frogs at night.

We serve a tasty combination of international food and traditional
plants. A wide variety of exotic fruits is also available. Soft drinks,
snacks and hot water for coffee and tea are available all day.

A well-endowed library is open all day long. Paperbacks, magazines and
books are available. A small boutique stocks essential items, as well as
handicrafts and souvenirs.
