I was shopping in Ballard this morning and had just turned down Ballard
Ave when I heard a very agitated squawk from a starling in the trees just
ahead. I looked up to see an accipiter flying right at me. It turned
sharply a few feet away and perched in a tree outside the former Doppler
Computer Bldg. It was the biggest sharpie/cooper I've ever seen, so I'm
guessing it was a female Coopers. I didn't have my binoculars, but the
tail was obviously rounded. It missed the sky rat, by the way...
