Hello Tweeters,
I'm Editor for the Wild Phlox, newsletter for NC WA Audubon Society, and
while Dan Stevens was away, I received the bird sightings. Sorry these are
late - just getting the hang of this new technology. Here's the latest:

Oct 7 Hawk Owl Sugarloaf Lookout, (on ridge between Entiat & Wenatchee River
Valleys, Wenatchee Nat'l Forest.

Oct 21 Snowy Owl seen on a post beside the hwy on daylight trip to Spokane
Eric Phillips and Glen DeVries

Nov 8 3 dark phase Gryfalcons at Atkins Lake which is 9 mi w of Coulee City
(Delorme p 85)

Nov 9 Snowy Owl about 5 miles w of Coulee City

Nov 11 Bluejay in Omak

Nov 15 Peregrine Falcon at Atkins Lake, also Snowy Owl

NCWA Audubon Society has created a Bird Education Trunk with nests, eggs,
feathers, specimens (all part of the Wenatchee Valley College collection), a
50 page teacher's guide, posters and books, available for teachers (and
homeschoolers) to check out of the NCWA Museum in Wenatchee, and take to the
classroom for a week. It is much in use.
We just added owl pellets (Barn Owl) with instructions re examining them.
Question: Do they need to be sterilized? How? Is Hanta Virus -&/or others - a
concern?

Thanks to you all for such interesting sightings, comments, and discussions.
Good Birding - for us, the children, and their children!
