Just thought I would let everyone know that even though snow and ice has
lain around for many a day now, winter did not officially arrive until
yesterday when the first Pine Grosbeaks made it to my feeder. Such beautiful
birds with equally beautiful dispositions. The thermometer may be stuck on
-30 C, but the Piners always seem to take the time to alight atop a tree
and warble a few liquid phrases. I expect to be going through the black oil
seeds at a quickening pace now...
