Hi Tweeters!

Janet Eder is on her way to Puerto Vallarta and she asked that I let you know
the birds and other wildlife she and her husband saw on their way from Yakima
to Portland this morning (Saturday).

Between Toppenish and the Columbia River, they saw between 15-20 Northern
Harriers (both sexes).

They saw eight American Kestrels along the way.

As they crested the first hill between Toppenish and Goldendale on Hwy. 97,
they saw a flock of 30-40 Snow Buntings.

At the bottom of one of the hills between Toppenish and Goldendale there was
a road-kill deer being scavenged by an adult Bald Eagle, an immature Bald
Eagle, several American Crows, and Black-billed Magpies. At this point, they
also saw a pack of 4 coyotes.

Close to Goldendale they saw nine Red-tailed Hawks perched in trees.

At Brooks Memorial Park, they saw a flock of Wild Turkeys!

Just beyond Goldendale, they saw another pack of 3 coyotes and then a few
more nearby.

All along the Columbia were THOUSANDS of Canada Geese---both in and out of
the water.
