Randy Hill of Othello reported 2 SNOWY OWLS, 4 miles east of Othello on
November 14. The birds were at the junction of Cunningham, which is the
main street in Othello, and Billington Roads.

To the south of us, on November 15, Paul Nye (sp?) of Umatilla, OR, reported
that he had photographed a SNOWY OWL near Ione, OR on 11/12.

On 11/16, Carl and Nita Higby found a SNOWY OWL along Highway 26 about 30
miles west of Colfax. Hopefully one will show up locally in the near future.

Bill and Nancy LaFramboise along with Mike and MerryLynn Denny found a
CATTLE EGRET on November 16 near the junction of North Lake and Valley
Roads, north of Highway 124 in Burbank Heights. They also reported (5)
AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS along Kellogg Road in the Eureka Flats area (see
DeLorme Atlas page 40), a very late male WILSON'S WARBLER, 3 BARN OWLS and a
GREAT HORNED OWL in Fishhook Park and a MEW GULL in the fairgrounds parking
lot in East Kennewick.

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was still present that day (11/16) and also on
November 18 at its favorite brush pile adjacent to 1104 E 4th Place in East
Kennewick.

Also on November 18, Dan Freestone (sp?) observed a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK
taking pigeons at the Waremart store on Clearwater in Kennewick.

A female CASSIN'S FINCH was seen by Nancy LaFramboise at her feeder in South
Richland on November 19 and again on the 21st.

Backing up a bit, on November 18, I (Bob Woodley) found a single RED-NECKED
GREBE at the Richland Marina, and 31 TUNDRA SWAN on the upstream end of the
Columbia River island just above Nelson Island. Also on November 18, there
were 3 TUNDRA SWAN on the upper end of the island off Columbia Park.

Among other birds on November 20, the Yakima Delta yielded an immature BALD
EAGLE, a NORTHERN HARRIER, 2 RED-TAILED HAWKS, and a MERLIN. Also present
were 2 BONAPARTE'S GULLS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE. Groves Park added a single
BOHEMIAN WAXWING escorted by 14 Cedar Waxwings (Bob Woodley).

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
