0n Sunday afternoon on 11/24 I went the Broughton Beach area on
the Columbia River by Portland airport to look for the Snowy Owl that
was reported there. After several late aft. hours, darkness forced me to
give up.....after seeing neither 'hide nor hair' of this owl!!!!!
Iagain went to the same place Monday after work, walking on the
bike path as far as to the Eagle Scout bldgs. and back. I searched both
the airport area, and the riverfront....and saw Double-crested
Comorants, a Kestrel, several Western Grebes, an immature Bald Eagle,
several Great Blue Herons, and scores of Gulls...........but NO SNOWY
OWL!!!!!!!
I will visit this area after Thanksgiving time, in hopes the owl
may return, so I can add this species to my life lists.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow birders!!!!
