This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

At Mann Lake near Lewiston, ID, on November 16, Dan Svingen reports
seeing 2 OLDSQUAW, the 3 SANDHILL CRANE present since early
November, about 30 TUNDRA SWAN, a PEREGRINE FALCON, a single
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, and 3 CANVASBACK. To get to Mann
Lake, take US 12 west into Lewiston, cross the Clearwater Bridge and
immediately turn left toward East Lewiston. Follow Main Street to the
blinking yellow light and turn right onto Lindsay Creek Road. Stay right
at the Y and follow Lindsay Creek until it dead ends at Grelle. Turn left
onto Grelle, and just after Grelle makes a 20 mph right turn, turn left
toward the lake. Head straight about 1.3 miles to the dead end and the

While you're in Lewiston, Dan reports 3 immature GREATER SCAUP and
a single, winter-plumaged RED-NECKED GREBE at the big levee pond
(aka West Pond). To reach the levee pond, take US 12 west into
Lewiston and stay right around the first traffic light. At the second
light, which is 18th Street, follow the signs for the US 12 west bypass.
In about 1.2 miles, you'll reach the parking lot for the big levee pond.

Mike and MerryLynn Denny called in some sightings from the Tri-Cities
area of WA and western Walla Walla County. Just southeast of Pasco,
at McNary NWR headquarters display pond on November 16 were 4
TUNDRA SWAN. Just north of the NWR, along Northshore Drive in
Burbank Heights was a single CATTLE EGRET. Washington DeLorme p.

November 16 at Fishhook Park, off WA 124 and on the south shore of
the Snake River, about 20 miles east of Pasco, the Denny's saw 3
BARN OWLS and a very late male WILSON'S WARBLER. Washington

In Kennewick WA a WESTERN SCRUB JAY is persisting, as is a MEW
GULL at the Kennewick sewage ponds. If these birds interest you, call

SPARROWS in a small grove of locust trees along Kellogg Road in
