I was in Seattle for a while today and stopped by Alki Point to look for
rockpipers and such. There were quite a few Surfbirds and at least one
Black Turnstone on the rocks, mostly on one large, rather flat rock
covered with kelp and such. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with
me (the rule is that you always see good birds when you don't have a
camera, isn't it?), but I thought about what a great picture that would
make, to show these specialized shorebirds feeding in this special
environment. There was a guy walking on the beach pretty close to these
birds and he didn't spook them much, so it would probably be quite easy
to get close enough for a good picture. So now I wonder whether any of
you tweeters have ever taken any really good color photos of these birds
feeding there, or on any similarly rich rocky area. If you have, please
