This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

The single, dark morph PARASITIC JAEGER first seen by Dan Svingen
and Chuck Trost on September 20, at the Walla Walla River delta in
western Walla Walla County, Washington, was seen again on the 21st
by Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Also on the delta were 6 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. The delta is about 30 miles west of Walla
Walla, just north of the junction of US 12 and US 730. WA DeLorme p.
40, D1.

Just north of the delta at McNary NWR, at the east end of Humorist
Road, were 550+ GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE on September 21,
according to the Dennys. Humorist Road joins US 12 a couple miles
south of the Snake River, just southeast of Pasco. WA DeLorme p. 40,
C1.

Today, September 27, at McKay Creek NWR on McKay Reservoir, 4
miles south of Pendleton, Oregon, was an AMERICAN GOLDEN
PLOVER, seen by the Dennys. Also in the area was an adult "suckleyi"
MERLIN, lots of PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and AMERICAN PIPITS. OR

Clare and Sharon Wiser saw some interesting birds at Turnbull NWR,
just south of Cheney, Washington, on September 26. A pair of
TRUMPETER SWANS were on Blackhorse Lake, a SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK was just east of Middle Pine Lake, and a single VIRGINIA RAIL
was in the rushes at the north end of Winslow Pool. The NWR is along
the Cheney-Plaza Road south of Cheney. WA DeLorme p. 72, A4.

Although not a northern Idaho sighting, some folks might be interested
in the female GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE with 2 flying youngsters in
Marsing, Idaho. Marsing is about 10 miles southwest of Caldwell. Dan
Svingen saw the birds September 26 in the city park, which is on the
west bank of the Snake River just south of ID 55. ID DeLorme p. 34,
