Ginger Wireman reported that 2 SANDHILL CRANE were circling over the Pasco
end of the Cable Bridge on September 21.

Nancy and Bill LaFramboise hosted a pair of NORTHERN BOBWHITE in their South
Richland yard on September 23. The origin of these birds is uncertain.

On September 27, Dennis Rockwell found an immature LEWIS' WOODPECKER in Two
Rivers Park in Finley. This bird is a rather rare migrant in the TriCities.

September 30 yielded several sightings:

Mona St. Germain of Burbank Heights observed 3 flocks of SANDHILL CRANE
each with 100-150 birds.

An immature PEREGRINE roosted in the power line towers in Two Rivers Park
was reported by Dennis Rockwell.

John Fields, camping in Madam Dorian Park at the Walla Walla River mouth,
found FOX SPARROWS and SPOTTED TOWHEES present there.

Kathy Criddle reported that her neighbor's cat killed a WINTER WREN in her
Richland yard. This is a little early for this species to appear locally.
Kathy also mentioned that 4 SANDHILL CRANE flying over Badger Mountain on
September 27.

Also on September 30, a lone GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was on the island
just upstream from Nelson Island (seen from Groves Park in Richland) (Bob
Woodley) and 10 COMMON TERNS plied the water between the two islands.

The Yakima Delta yielded both YELLOWLEGS, 1 SANDERLING, WESTERN AND PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, COMMON SNIPE, and 98 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

Lastly Ken and Cathy Ryneer (sp?) observed a GREAT EGRET along the Yakima
River in West Richland. No date was given.
