A walk this morn at the ML Fill brought more migrants and winter arrivals.
Wigeon numbers continue to increase, and there was a large movement of
Yellow-rumped Warblers through the area. Probably 200 of these in the
area of the fill/CUH. Of course I can't vouch that each and every one was
a Yellow-rumped, but every one I examined (50 or so) was. Robins continue
to stream south in my Seward Park neighborhood sometimes passing my house
at a rate of ~ 500/hour. This was also evident this morning at the fill,
with numerous robins feeding and continuing south. And the best thing was
an immature Northern Shrike, seen all over the southern half of the fill,
trying to cash in on the high numbers of YR Warblers. Aside from a snipe,
no shorebirds.
