We once published an old English recipe for starling pie in The
Warbler, the Portland Audubon Newsletter. Reactions were mixed.

And Tom McCallister, a (now retired) outdoor columnist for the Oregonian
and a lifelong Audubon member, once published a column pointing out
that starlings could be shot by hunters year round, and that being
small and quick were great practice targets.

They're really useful for trapping hawks for banding purposes...
