Not too long ago, we were talking about crows/ravens immitating hawk
behavior. In that vein, we noted an interesting behavior on our recent trip
down south.

For those of you who've not been to the Monterey area, as you drive along
Highway 1 heading south, there are large fields of artichokes, brussel
sprouts and the like. In other words, large, open fields. There's always a
ton a hawks (mostly red-tail as that's what they reintroduced) hunting.

On one such field, we watched a raven doing the same hunting behavior as the
hawks. It would fly along with it's head down, pause and hover over a spot
that looked promising and then move on, repeating the procedure. It was so
convincing we thought at first it was a hawk. Closer examination, however,
proved to be a raven.

Interesting.
