This morning at the locks there were several Heermans on and around the
west side of the spillway. This was my first Heermans sighting, the one I
got the best look at was uniformly dark with a black tipped pink bill and
black legs. It was sitting on the cable with a mew gull and four
bonapartes. I thought it might be second winter plumage? I sprained my
knee a while back and this was my first trip out in a week or so, so I
don't know how long they've been there.
