The U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City denied a request for an
injunction to stop the release of six California condors in northern
Arizona this week. The request, made by San Juan County, UT, alleged the
birds' release would "bring a host of unwanted and costly land-use
regulations" to the county once they birds flew over the Arizona/Utah
state line. Judge Tena Campbell ruled that the county did not show the
release would cause harm. The government can now move ahead with the
reintroduction program.
