checked with local computer tech who used to work for me that is
knowledgable re hard drive problems. from the general comment he suggests
check the cmos computer may not be able to talk the drive, you could have a
virus, and thirdly there is an outfit in seattle--disk drive repair in phone
book the bad news is that 500meg drive cost about 2k to fix if fixable
