The article in the AUK did indeed present good evidence that eating the
fruits of Morrow's honeysuckle caused Cedar Waxwing tail tips to be orange.
He fed an experimental group berries while they were molting, and their
tail tips ended up orange. He cut off the berries on a small group, and
their last-molted feathers were yellow-tipped again. I'd say he presented
entirely sufficient evidence for his hypothesis.
