On the subject of varied thrushes: I get a lot of window kills at my
home each year when they first arrive back and this year is no
exception. They gorge on the fruits of Arbutus (Madrona) in my yard,
and I suspect they are somehow intoxicated or otherwise stoned
thereby. Pasting falcon cutouts on the windows is ineffective, and I
recall a thread on birdchat some time ago that confirmed this. Does
anyone have any data relevant to my suspicion? Derek
