Last Spring I visited the Kent Ponds hoping to find some migrant
shorebirds. What I mostly found was construction equipment. The water
from the ponds had been diverted into a channel running through the ponds.
The result being that the ponds are no longer ponds, and they apparently
will not be filled again as dikes were breached on both sides. I haven't
gone back since, but imagine that the birding days at the Kent Ponds are
over, as the water was one of the key aspects of the site.
