At least for my brain, color is subjective. My brain apparently fills in the
color it expects, or wants, to see.

Twice now, yesterday PM and this morning, I saw flashes of yellow bird bellies
as two birds were flying up in some dense brush, grabbing a berry, and then
"falling" back down to rip the berry off.

Well, when I finally got the binocs on them, they weren't yellow at all. They
were Swainson's Thrushes. My brain was somehow converting the bright flash of
that slightly tannish belly to yellow. (In hindsight, that was typical thrush
behavior.)

So, another caveat about what we think we see... or at least about what I think
I see.
