Hi Tweeters,
I'm home sick today, and just saw quite a crowd on the back lawn. We've had
only a single pair of Robins all summer, but just now there were three
adults and seven juveniles on the lawn. Joining them were a single adult
Swainson's thrush and what I'd guess was a juvenile Swainson's thrush (not
as well colored or marked). (By the way, the Robins quit singing for about
six weeks, but the Swainson's sang a little and "whit"ted all summer long.
Normal?) Also in the congregation was a Northern flicker, eating worms (?)
on the ground, and the neighborhood watchman, a Steller's jay. Not a crow
in sight.
