I haven't seen this mentioned, but it should be of interest to many of
you. According to the work of Jeff Groth there may be more than one species
of Red Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra) based on call types, bill morphology,
ecology and genetics. Up until now these differences were only appreciated
by looking at the sonograms of the birds in his crossbill monograph, but
just recently he has set up an extensive and really neat page on the web:

It includes sound files of different call types, range maps, ecological
information, measurements and a whole lot of other stuff to keep you busy.
Its one of the best examples of how to make good use of the WWW. Enjoy!
