A while back I wrote (which was sent on by someone else):

I want to be the first to go on record saying that this is a *prior*
opinion of mine. Many discussions with Dennis and Fred have not supported
this opinion. The current ID of these birds is *unknown*. It seems that
the more we learn about the parakeets, the less we know. It is possible
that two or perhaps all of the birds are Crimson-fronted as Dennis
originally suggested, or perhaps not. As I've stated more recently, they
could represent a mixed flock of perhaps as many as three species. Or
they could all be Crimson-fronted if young birds do not attain red
underwings until at least one year later in life. Who knows?
