I'm using another computer to send this message, as I didn't want to wait
until Monday. I'm home, it's midday, and the yard has been full of
migrants most of the morning. The five common warblers (Yellow,
Townsend's, Black-throated Gray, Wilson's, Orange-crowned) are here, also
Warbling Vireo and Pacific-slope Flycatcher and Hermit Thrush. Several of
them have used the fountain we put in at great effort this summer, yeah!

The activity among the chickadees and nuthatches is also more than I've
ever seen. There has been a steady stream of both going to the sunflower
seeds all morning. The yard is humming.

Earlier I watched a flock of 9 Steller's Jays, a few crows, and a Sharp-
shinned Hawk chase each other around for at least a half hour. Every time
the hawk chased a jay it would squawk, but as soon as the hawk landed, the
jays would be right there after it. It was great, and it points out that
everyone should stay home every once in a while from work!
