The No. Flickers, Downy Woodpeckers, R-b Nuthatches, Bushtits, Bewick's Wrens
all enjoy my suet feeders. They all also, including the No. Flickers, enjoy
the peanut butter feeder. It is a log about 4" in dia. and about 18" long
with four holes spaced around it. The holes are 1 to 1-1/2" in. in dia. and
the same dimension deep with small pegs, ~ 1" long, just below the hole. The
No. Flicker has to have one foot on one peg and the other on another peg to
hang on and feed, but apparently it feels it worth the effort. The Steller's
Jays haven't figured it out yet. I buy the 5# jug of crunchy peanut butter
at Costco and then mix corn meal and oatmeal to stiffen it up enough to stay
in the feeder hole.
