On the grosbeak note, my Black-headeds finally left last week. I have had an
occasional BHGB at my feeder for the past 4 summers, but this year, at least
two separate families took up residence in my back yard (about 12-15 birds)
for the whole summer. What a tremendous treat (albeit a drain on the bird
seed budget).
Did any one else notice an increase in these birds in the Seattle area this
summer?

grosbeaks!". A small flock of Evening Grosbeaks paid us a short visit, but
a squirrel was hogging the sunflower seeds. We are also seeing our first
Juncos of the season. >>
