Well, I used to post a listproc FAQ every few months. Unfortunately it
didn't seem to do much good. As soon as two days afterward the usual
query postings would appear.

If tweeters were a moderated list (WED and ORNITH-L), or restricted to
subscribers (BIRDCHAT) this would be less of a problem.

Everybody receives instructions upon subscribing, and are *asked* to save
them. Most do, and don't have too many difficulties.

Should any of you wish any help please write me personally at
<dvictor at u.washington.edu> instead of posting to the list.

One of the recent postings was from a non-subscriber, so he wouldn't have
seen the instructions anyway.

Oh well, it still works pretty well even with all the openness. ;-)
