I think they may think the dog is another seal. Our retriever used to love
to go in the ocean off Pacific Grove and would swim out in Shell Bay. The
seals would all hover around the mouth of the bay and wait for the dog to
come out. They're pretty used to divers around here so I would be surprised
if they were playing.
