Stan, I'll reply on tweeters, since this piqued my curiosity, I figure
that it will pique others as well. I knew that I should know the answer,
but couldn't remember, so I used some of the online references, got into
the _Oxford_Dictionary_, and found the term:

PEDOLOGY: The scientific study of soils, their origins, characteristics,
and uses.

Unfortunately, according to my new _American_Heritage_Dictionary_, this is
the 2nd definition, the first being:

PEDOLOGY: The study of the behavior and development of children.

Isn't English fun?
