Hello, This is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday April 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
233-3976.

A BLUE JAY was found April 1 at the Brierwood Trailer Park in West Eugene.
It was seen again the next day. Turn west off Beltline Road onto Royal
Avenue. Continue to Candlelight Street. Turn north onto Candlelight and
drive to the end of the road.

The ROSS' GOOSE is still on the meadowland east of Florence and a GLAUCOUS
GULL was at the North Jetty of the Siuslaw River west of Florence March 29.

Up to two FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS were along the South Jetty of Yaquina
Bay March 31 and April 1. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was along the Jetty Road March
31.

An adult LAYSAN ALBATROSS was found dead on the beach south of Manzanita
March 28. A couple of TUFTED PUFFINS were observed on Haystack Rock at
Cannon Beach April 1.

Thirteen LESSER and nine GREATER YELLOWLEGS were near Astoria March 30.
GREATER YELLOWLEGS made a major movement through western Oregon during the
week. Fifty two were recorded in Clackamas County March 27 and about 200
were at Cedar Canyon Marsh west of Banks March 30.

Cedar Canyon Marsh is now coming alive. BITTERNS and rails are now calling
and displaying and YELLOWTHROATS, MARSH WRENS and several species of ducks
are conspicuously displaying.

An injured BURROWING OWL was found in Beaverton March 27 and brought to the
Portland Care Center.

CLIFF SWALLOWS moved into the state during the week reaching Sauvie Island
by March 30. A CASPIAN TERN was over Sturgeon Lake that day. There are
still many CRANES, geese, and BALD EAGLES on the Island.

CLIFF SWALLOWS, BARN SWALLOWS, and a lone VAUX'S SWIFT were at the Forest
Grove Ponds March 29. Whinnowing SNIPE were heard that day near Forest
Grove and migrant DOWITCHERS and DUNLIN were noted.

OSPREYS returned during the week to their nests along the Columbia River.
Flocks of ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS and both kinglets were reported. A female
WILSON'S WARBLER was in Eugene March 29. The WHITE PELICAN is still being
seen near the Fern Ridge Dam. An EASTERN FOX SPARROW was near Sutherlin
March 30 and April 1.

Thats it for this week.
