I too experienced bald eagle cooperation while kayaking on the east side of
Mercer Island in Lake Washington last spring.

Two mature bald eagles took turns preying upon a lone coot. The eagles
took turns swooping down on the coot like giant synchronous pendulums, and
each time, at the last minute, the coot dove. As the coot came up for air
the other eagle was in mid-dive heading toward it. That puffy and puffing
coot, try as it did, was no match for the coordinated attacks of the eagles
who tightened their well-timed efforts until the coot lost even the
briefest break in which to take a gasp of air. Finally, the coot popped up
up just as one of the eagles was about to strike and the hunt ended. The
coot was easily carried off by one of the eagles, I assume to feed the next
generation of eagles in one of the Mercer Island nests.
