Mary Anne Sohlstrom, PAS Birdathon Coordinator, requested at the
counters' orientation on April 2 that Portland counters not use OBOL
or Tweeters to solicit funds (as I sneakily did last week [sorry]--I have
gotten zero responses).
However, I do think it is important that groups continue to
generally post their own Birdathon announcements so that people who may
not be members of Audubon who may be in our groups might get involved if
they wish. It is fascinating to me, coming from a region of the country
where this fundraiser hadn't started yet some 8 years ago, that it is so
pervasive here. Maybe we should have a grand contest among all groups
for best bird, most seen, etc. RK
